We offer our engineering expertise to the marine industry in the upkeep, maintenance and repairs of marine vessels and structures including boats, offshore wind turbines and other marine technology.

At our quayside premises in Arklow, we carry out boat repairs and routine maintenance, as well as refits and refurbishments, which can modernise your vessel and make it more efficient and cost-effective.

Offshore, we apply our skills to the operation and maintenance of marine technology, including offshore wind turbines. Our marine engineering staff are certified to work in the challenging conditions of an offshore wind farm. Our offshore work is complemented by the back-up of our workshop and machine shop facilities in Arklow.

Refits & Refurbishment

  • Steel and aluminium fabrication.
  • Installation of new engine, gearbox etc.
  • Reconfiguration: wheelhouses and deckhouse.
  • Vessel lengthening and modernising.
  • Pipework modifications and replacements.
  • All electrical, carpentry and painting works.
  • Hydraulic capabilities, fault finding, replacing of hydraulic hoses for new installations.
  • Slipping including two Syncrolift platforms for up to 400 tonnes dead weight.
  • A boat refit or refurbishment may be needed to modernise the existing vessel, improve towing or to comply with new legislation. These adjustments can make the vessel more cost-effective and efficient and create greater towing power.

    At our quayside premises in Arklow, which is complimented by the Syncrolift facilities at Howth, we have the ability to carry out any refitting or refurbishing that you may require.

    Repairs & Maintenance

  • Pipework repair or replacements as needed by customer.
  • Full marine electrical services available on-site or off-site.
  • Hydraulic capabilities, fault finding and hydraulic hoses.
  • Propeller repairs and replacement.
  • Full carpentry maintenance services available including shipwrights.

  • Boats and their on board equipment and systems may need repair or modernisation at some point in their lifetime due to general wear and tear, an engine failure or other mechanical issue, storm damage or a collision.

    Our team can carry our any repairs or routine maintenance work needed at our premises in Arklow. We also have the flexibility to travel at short notice to the site where you boat may be docked and carry out repairs or maintenance there. We regularly send staff to Dublin to carry out routine maintenance on docked ferries.

    We have a full repairs and maintenance service available for boats, engines and pipework including routine tasks.


    Offshore O&M Services

    We have the flexibility to send individual members of staff or small teams off-site to offer offshore O&M (Operation and Maintenance) services. These staff have the full back-up of the workshop and machine shop facilities at our Arklow premises.

    Arklow Marine Services provide O&M services to offshore wind farms, carrying out maintenance and repair of 3.6MW turbines, which often involves refit. Our staff are fully certified to work in the challenging and potentially hazardous conditions on these offshore sites. All staff are fully certified in:

  • First Aid.
  • Confined Spaces.
  • Manual Handling.
  • Safe Pass.
  • Working at Heights.

  • Torqueing main structure bolts and nuts.
  • Shaft alignment.
  • Hydraulic brakes and aluminium pressure refill.
  • Check proximity sensors.
  • Battery voltage and endurance tests.
  • Generator and sub ring bush gear.
  • Check brakes.
  • Grease bearings.
  • Check and change bushes in generator and pitch motor.
  • Check and change pitch motors.
